Luca Pani is full professor of pharmacology at Università di Modena e Reggio Emilia and clinical psychiatry at Miami University (USA). Over recent years he has performed important Italian and international work as new medicine regulator and negotiator including the first global gene therapies. He has acted as director general of Agenzia Italiana del Farmaco (AIFA) from 2011 to 2016 and is a member of the scientific committees of the European Medicines Agency (EMA) in London from 2010 to 2017 and currently the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine in Washington DC.
