Massimo Pinzani completed his degree in Medicine and specialisation in Internal Medicine at the University of Florence. He did a further specialisation in Gastroenterology at the University of California, Los Angeles. He has a Ph.D. in Hepatic Pathophysiology. He has directed University College London’s Institute for Liver and Digestive Health, one of the most famous research and treatment centres for liver diseases and transplants, since 2012.
Dr. Pinzani has pioneered basic and clinical research in the fields of liver fibrosis driven by chronic disease and the pathophysiology of cirrhosis. He has led a research group on liver bioengineering since 2012.
He is chairman of the European Association for the Study of the Liver (EASL) Consortium for Regenerative Hepatology.
