
Paolo Caraceni
Dr. Paolo Caraceni is currently Associate Professor of Internal Medicine and Faculty member of the Research Doctorate in Biomedical Sciences at the University of Bologna, Italy.
He served as Clinical and Research Fellow at the Transplantation Department of the University of Pittsburgh (USA) and Oklahoma Transplantation Center, Oklahoma City (USA) (1992-1994).
Since 2000, he has held teaching responsibilities at the University of Bologna, in parallel with his role as a Consultant, taking care of patients with cirrhosis and waiting for liver transplantation.
He served as General Secretary of the Italian Association for the Study of the Liver (2012-2014) and he is currently member of the Steering Committee of the EASL-Consortium for the study of Chronic Liver Failure (CLIF).
He is currently Associate Editor for Journal of Hepatology in the Section Cirrhosis and its complications.
His research interests fall within the fields of Hepatology, Gastroenterology, Alcohology, and Cellular Biology and he published more than 245 papers in international peer-review journals (H-index = 56).
